The Valera Bible 1602 is the Bible is the second edition of the Reina Valera Bible. The first edition was published by Casiodoro de Reina in 1569. Cipriano de Valera reviewed and published it in 1602. In 1865 it was revised to update the orthography and bring to the Hispanic world the reliable text of the Reina-Valera Bible in modern orthography. The Spanish that was used in the golden age is elegant and precise but it was necessary to update the spelling to make it more understandable.

The Reina-Valera was widely disseminated during the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century. Today, the Reina-Valera (with several revisions through the years) is one of the most widely used Spanish Bibles by most of the Christian churches derived from the Reformation (including the Evangelical churches), as well as by other groups of Christian faith, such as the Seventh-day Adventist Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the International Gideons and other non-denominational Christians.
