hessenWARN is the official warning app of the state of Hesse.
The system offers hazard and disaster warnings from various Hessian state and federal authorities from a single source. hessenWARN offers the possibility of using a wide variety of functionalities, warnings and information bundled in just one application.

The application is designed in such a way that it can be personalized according to your own wishes. In principle, only the functions and information that you have previously selected and activated are made available. Even after putting together the desired functionalities, you remain flexible: you can change your selection at any time.

There is an interface to the most common public warning systems such as KATWARN or the modular warning system of the federal government (MoWaS). This interface ensures that the official information from the authorities in Germany and Austria is available in the event of a hazard or disaster. Location-based warnings about dangers, such as major fires or extreme weather, are also transmitted via push message in hessenWARN. The app offers the option of always being informed about your current location and seven other freely selectable locations.

The location function can be switched on or off by the user. By using energy-efficient location via base stations and WLAN access points (and not via GPS), the battery is only slightly drained.

The app has the following functions:

• Active notification (push notifications) about dangers for up to eight locations: in addition to the current location (="guardian angel"), seven freely selectable locations
• Postcode-specific warnings for the selected locations with warning texts and color-based classification of the Warning level
• Continuous, anonymous updating of the location information, so that no further manual entries are required
• Immediate notification when entering a current danger area
• Feedback function for feedback to the app service provider
• Germany-wide hazard and disaster warnings
• Reports on missing person searches by the Hessian police
• Warnings in connection with fraud offenses (e.g. "fake police officers") in Hesse
• ​​Cyber ​​security
warnings • Flood and earthquake warnings in Hesse as well as Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate

In addition, the app has a georeferenced emergency call. In an emergency, this enables you to request local help as quickly as possible, no matter where you are.
