Join Daan Schuurmans and discover the history of
the Netherlands. In 18 walks through the city and country, he tells you everything about
how our country – and its residents – became the way they are today.

A pod walk, that is listening while you walk. You go to the starting point,
put in your earphones or headphones, and the app does the rest. Daan tells
you step by step what happened where you are
standing at that moment. How the residents of that time experienced those events. And
the consequences for our country as we know it now.

route. Daan knows exactly where you are and tells you where to go and
where to look. This way you won't miss any of his fantastic stories from our

have a taste before you set off? You can listen to parts of every walk in the app

Compatibility
- You download the app and you can go straight away. You do
n't need an account. No mobile data either, because you can
download the routes to your phone at home. Your GPS will take care of the rest.

Functionalities
- Each walk follows an episode of the television series The
Story of the Netherlands. You can just walk the routes without
seeing the series. Would you like more background information about the
walk? For each route you will find a link with which you
can see the corresponding episode on NPO Start.
- The app has a list view of all routes. Would you rather see it on
a map? The map view shows you which routes
are near you. Or use the built-in suggestions for your choice.
- The screen is designed so that you can easily read it outdoors. Even
in the bright sun. There is also a dark mode. It is a bit easier on
the eyes when you navigate through the app at home in the evening.
- Each walk states how long it takes. In minutes, but also in
steps. Handy for your walking or fitness app.
- Not everything completely clear yet? Don't worry, the app has a list
of frequently asked questions. This way you will definitely figure it out.

Technical information
- The app uses your GPS location and the routes can
be downloaded in advance. If you do that, you don't
need WiFi or mobile network during the route. All you have to do is press start
and put the phone in your pocket.
- The GPS and audio data can be deleted in the app so that you
can free up space on your phone.
