Rolled out for production
MatMat is a math game which makes simple math functions fun.
It targets children in primary school although high school pupils and even adults will enjoy the challenges this game poses. The game creates competitiveness between family members and friends and keeps record of the highest score on each different level.
The concept of MatMat started when I was made aware of children who were doing all their math methodology correctly but still got the answer wrong as they made a mistake in their mental arithmetic section. By having fun and being challenged whilst playing MatMat, one’s brain starts to remember the correct answers and eliminates these mental arithmetic mistakes which result in a better math mark at the end.
MatMat has 4 different levels from easy, medium to hard and a multiply only section. It goes from very simple additions, subtractions and multiplication functions to more complex functions including up to the 12 times table.
The game asks the math question and drops a row from the top of the play area with 3 answers of which only one is correct. One has to choose the correct answer by tapping it with one’s finger. If the selected answer is correct the row disappears but if it is wrong the row drops to the bottom of the play area. When 9 answers are wrong the play area will build up with the answer rows which were answered incorrectly to the top of the play area and the player will lose a life. After losing 3 lives the game is over and will display the score. It will also indicate if it is a new high score.
One can then choose to play another level or just restart the game again.
Without realizing it, one is becoming very aware of the basic arithmetic functions and values, which helps in the classroom and in daily life.
Download the game and have fun while sharpening your mental arithmetic skills.
