Hallux Valgus or hallux valgus deformity of the foot is a pathology characterized by progressive valgus deviation of the first toe, which changes the anatomical axis of the foot and fingers.

Hallux valgus is a relatively common pathology of the foot. The causes of valgus deformity of the foot can be different, from increased physical activity and hereditary predisposition, to overweight and weakness of the ligaments and muscles of the foot. Also, long-term wearing of uncomfortable shoes, shoes with a narrow toe and high heels increases the risk of developing Halus Valgus and exacerbating painful symptoms. This disease is more common among young and middle-aged women, who often use uncomfortable model shoes.

In hallux valgus, the big toe bends inward towards the smaller toes, because the foot is the protrusion of the head of the bone, and the formation of pits or bumps on the leg in the lower part of the finger. That is why patients often call the pathology-a bone or a lump on the big toe.

It should be noted that the appearance of a bone on the big toe is not the initial stage of development of Halus Valgus. This pathology develops gradually, and at the initial stage you may notice that shoes that were comfortable became uncomfortable to wear. In the future, patients note the appearance of pain in the foot at the end of the day, which over time becomes more permanent and long-lasting.
